PageOne Financial maintains a primary focus on preservation of assets while also seeking appropriate opportunities for growth. The research and market analysis supporting the programs of PageOne Financial employ economic, technical, and fundamental factors in an effort to determine the desired allocation of portfolios.
The allocations for PageOne’s investment programs are determined using a two-step approach:
This "top-down" approach is then customized for each of PageOne’s wide variety of active management programs. The programs were designed with different risk profiles and investment choices to help fit the needs of most investors.
- Economic analysis involves the study of data reflecting the global economy and determining the overall strength of the current environment. Dozens of economic indicators are analyzed continuously, including inflation, unemployment, production and housing data.
- Fundamental analysis looks at the health of the corporations that drive business demand and stock prices. Fundamental analysis includes economic data, but is more focused on firm-specific information such as cash flow and earnings. This data not only aids in the selection of market sectors but also in identifying the stages of the business cycle.
- Technical analysis provides a backdrop for the market and can provide insight on current trends. Although its predictive power is limited, technical analysis is critical in getting a "feel" for how segments of the market are performing as well as observing where money is flowing.
The allocations for PageOne’s investment programs are determined using a two-step approach:
- The analysis described above is dissected and weighted, and an overall asset class mix is determined, e.g. 60% stocks, 20% bonds, 20% cash.
- Each asset class is then analyzed individually and expected future trends are identified. Asset class subcategories include style (Value, Growth), market cap (Large, Small/Mid), and international themes (Foreign Large, Emerging Markets). For the Sector Rotation program, sectors are chosen based on their expected performance relative to the S&P 500 Index.
This "top-down" approach is then customized for each of PageOne’s wide variety of active management programs. The programs were designed with different risk profiles and investment choices to help fit the needs of most investors.
